A sporting and friendly edition
June 27th 2022
Sunday morning, nearly 5,000 triathletes took the start of the Garmin Triathlon de Paris by diving into the waters (23°C) of the Canal de l'Ourcq. They set off on the swim course towards the unique transition zone located in the Parc de la Villette where their bikes were waiting for them to cross Paris in front of many emblematic landmarks: the Place de la Bastille, the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Bois de Boulogne and the Arc de Triomphe. They then continued with the run before crossing the finish line. Two formats were offered to participants: the Olympic M format (1,500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run) and the Sprint S format (500m swim, 20km bike and 6km run).
In the Olympic format, Quentin Barreau (Issy Triathlon) won the men's race and Nora Cherfan (Stade Français) was the first to cross the finish line in the women's race. In the S format, François Bonnand (Versailles Triathlon) and Louise Bertille (Sartrouville) won this Garmin Triathlon de Paris edition.
The event made its return to the capital in a festive atmosphere. The diversity of the formats offered (S, M, relay) allowed confirmed triathletes as well as neophytes to live a sporty and friendly experience. The weather conditions were also favourable for this 2022 edition.
Participant's reactions
"What a pleasure, I'm delighted with my result. We were a small group of four all swimming together. I knew I had to make the push at the start of the bike course to get ahead and go it alone. In terms of the setting, it was magical. To have a bike course like that, passing the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, it's really a thrill, I had goose bumps." Quentin Barreau (Issy Triathlon), winner on the Olympic format.
"It was my first time participating in the event, and I'm thrilled I did. The surroundings were ideal, running on the banks of the canal de l’Ourcq, cycling through the streets of Paris, it was amazing. As for the competition, I am particularly satisfied with my race. Even though I'm not a very good at swimming, I swam well and I managed to catch up while cycling and running. In the end, I won to my surprise and I' m proud of myself." François Bonnand (Versailles Triathlon), winner of the Sprint format.
"It was my first Olympic format and the first time I participated in the Garmin Triathlon de Paris. It was brilliant, the organisation was top notch, especially the bike course where we were able to ride quietly in Paris all by ourselves. Next year I'll probably do it as a relay with some friends. Thank you all for the organisation.” Fanny Lepoivre, participant in the Olympic format.
"We travelled from England specially to take part in the event. Everything went perfectly, we really enjoyed being able to visit Paris in this manner. On top of that, the weather was great and we couldn't be happier." Peter and Christine, participants in the Sprint format.
"For us, it's a bit of a general rehearsal before the goal of Paris 2024. I wanted to do a first race in Paris, in order to feel all the sensations and to acclimatise myself. Now it is mission accomplished. It was a great race, and well organised. Thank you to all the volunteers for welcoming us in such good conditions. The bike course in Paris was amazing, with the roads closed for the occasion." Pierre Antoine Baele, para triathlete, member of the French team and 1st Para triathlete.

Given the public health situation, Amaury Sport Organisation and the French Triathlon Federation have unfortunately decided to cancel the 2021 Garmin Triathlon de Paris, scheduled to be held on 27 June. Especially with the closure of swimming pools, training conditions are not optimal for preparing for such a physically demanding event.
At this stage, there are no plans to reschedule the race for later in the year. In accordance with commitments made during the registration period, registered triathletes will be fully reimbursed for their bibs and any options they signed up for, within 6 weeks.
The organisers, the French Triathlon Federation, the city of Paris and all the partners of the event would like to thank the faithful participants of the Garmin Triathlon de Paris and are looking forward to sharing some great triathlon experiences together again.

News of Garmin Triathlon de Paris
June 5th 2020
After a long few months in lockdown, we sincerely hope that all is well with you and those close to you and that you’ve been able to begin readjusting to normality. With a bit of luck, you will have been able to do some sort of physical activity each week during the lockdown. We don’t know about you but we can’t wait for everything to go back to normal so we can put our fruits of our training to the test in a timed course.
As you know, the COVID-19 public health crisis has profoundly impacted sport, on an amateur and professional level. A.S.O. hasn’t been able to organise a public event since the beginning of March. Within this context, on the 7th May, the French Council of Ministers voted for a resolution detailing how we can respond to questions concerning the cancellation of our events. It means that up until the 15th September 2020, we are able to offer you a voucher for a similar event that will be valid for 18 months instead of an immediate refund.
This means that following the cancellation of the Garmin Triathlon de Paris, you will benefit from a voucher with a value equivalent to what you spent on the bib and additional options. You can use this voucher to sign up for more A.S.O. events over a period of 18 months, after which, any unspent funds on the voucher will be refunded to you.
We are currently working very hard to put these vouchers in place for the large number of riders/runners who had been preparing for our events over the last few months. In mid-July, you’ll receive an email specifying the value of your voucher and the practical information on how to claim etc. We regret any inconvenience caused by this exceptional situation and we thank you for your understanding.
In the meantime, we wish you all the best and we can’t wait to see you, even if our priority remains the health of everyone.
We hope to see you soon!
The event will not be taking place on its scheduled date
April 17th 2020
Firstly, we sincerely hope that all is is well with you and those closest to you and that you are coping as best you can with this period of confinement that is so vital to the fight against the virus.
Following the French President’s address on Monday, during which he made clear that there would not be large-scale public events until mid-July, and with the aim of helping to prevent the spread of the virus, we regret to announce that the Garmin Triathlon de Paris will not be taking place on its scheduled date of the 28th June. We are working with the Mairie de Paris to try and find a new date for the event.
We will get back to you as soon as possible by email with all of the practical information. In the meantime, we hope that you’re able to do a bit of exercise at home. We can’t wait to see you and to start training again, even if at the moment, everyone’s health is the number one priority.
See you soon.

- An unprecedented route in the heart of Paris which met with great success
- New Sprint format to seduce a new audience
This morning 8am, big dive in the Canal l'Ourcq for the 4,800 participants from the Garmin Triathlon de Paris.
After the heat wave, sharp drop in temperatures this Sunday. The 24 ° C announced delighted the triathletes, who for the most part (50%) discovered the discipline of the chained sports (swimming, cycling, running).
The height, it was warmer in the water than outside! in fact it was in water at 26 ° C that they started for swimming towards the Parc de la Villette where bicycles were waiting for a crossing of Paris in front of many emblematic sites such as Place de la République, the Bastille, the Louvre Pyramid, Place de la Concorde, the Grand Palais, the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadero or the Arc de Triomphe.
Then return to the only transition zone, located in the Parc de la Villette, to continue with running in the heart of the largest urban cultural park in the capital. It was in a warm atmosphere that the first triathlete of the Olympic race arrived, Romain Eliasse, fired at the club of Issy les Moulineaux, in 2:05. Juliette Coudrey wins the race in 2h22.
As the testimonies on the arrival point out, this edition, first collaboration between the French Federation of Triathlon and Amaury Sport Organization, is a real success!

2019 ROUTE
December 12th 2018
For the 3rd year in a row, Garmin Triathlon de Paris sets bases in Parc de la Villette. There is a major change implemented this year though: start and finish are gathered in la Villette, together with the event village (dedicated to Triathlon). Both transitions (T1 and T2) will be in Parc de la Villette.
We took this decision to reduce complexity so you can make the most of your triathlon. Don’t worry, the cycling leg will still take you on a Parisian loop (40km for the Olympic distance, 25km for the Sprint distance), on fully-closed roads.
See more about the route here.
“THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF THE GARMIN TRIATHLON DE PARIS”
November 30th 2018
1 – Thou shalt drink plenty of water every day before the race
It is important to prepare your body for the race, and staying hydrated is a crucial part of that! Drinking water will make your training sessions fun and effective, preventing dehydration and improving post-training recovery.
2 – Thou shalt eat protein and slow carbs 72 hours before the race
Food has a direct impact on the performance of triathletes. Slow carbs and protein are the ideal fuel for all third sectors, ensuring that your muscles are ready and your energy reserves are high!
3 – Thou shalt choose the best neoprene suit for the water temperature
The choice of suit is important to be at your very best in the swimming sector. If the temperature is too low, a neoprene suit will help you to keep your body temperature up and, therefore, save energy for the other sectors.
4 – Thou shalt read the "TRIATHLETE MEMO" on the website (to avoid mistakes with your transition bags!).
It is never a bad idea to check your bags to feel confident and prepared.
5 – Thou shalt drop off your transition bag the day before the race
After picking up your race number on Saturday, drop off your race equipment (transition bag) at the transition area: it is a great way of seeing where your location is!
6 – Thou shalt go to bed early on Saturday evening
Recovery is crucial. Sleep is when your body rests and recuperates before the next effort. Being in shape will keep you motivated and psyched-up for the next day!
7 – Thou shalt have breakfast no later than three hours before the race
Eat a hearty breakfast before the race. The first meal of the day will keep you in great physical and mental shape. Adding to your energy reserves three hours before the event will improve your concentration while ensuring you have already digested it when the going gets tough.
8 – Thou shalt remember to drink during the race
Drinking water or an isotonic drink before and during the event is essential. During exertion, the body loses water and minerals, which are crucial to triathletes. Remember to drink enough!
9 – Thou shalt enjoy the most beautiful city in the world
The Garmin Triathlon de Paris is a double delight, combining the fun of a triathlon with a course that will take you past the most jaw-dropping monuments of the capital. Enjoy it to the max. This is the only triathlon where you get to compete on a course like this one!
10 – Thou shalt easily complete all THREE sectors and proudly cross the finish line
Finally, remember to savour the experience and enjoy the triathlon challenge. The time has come to attain your goals and give it your best! Give it your all and relish the glory of being a finisher!
